Privacy policy of the Research Center for Inclusive Education (RCIE)

The University of Graz, the PPH Augustinum and the PH Steiermark as partners (jointly responsible) of the Research Center for Inclusive Education (RCIE) take data protection very seriously and treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory provisions.
This data protection declaration is intended to inform you about the purpose, legal basis and your rights in relation to the processing of personal data within the FZIB in accordance with Art. 12, 13, 14 GDPR.
Purpose, scope and legal basis of data processing
1. accessing our website
The FZIB/RCIE website is hosted by the administrative office of FZIB, the University of Graz. When the website is accessed, the web servers of the University of Graz temporarily store each access in a log file. The following data is recorded and stored until it is automatically deleted
- IP address of the requesting computer
- Date and time of access
- Name and URL of the retrieved data
- Amount of data transferred Amount of data transferred
- Message indicating whether the retrieval was successful
- Identification data of the browser and operating system used
- Website from which access was madeWebsite from which the access was made
- Name of your Internet access provider
This data is processed for the purpose of ensuring the use of the website (connection establishment), system security and the technical administration of the network infrastructure. In addition, the processing serves to optimize the Internet offer of the University of Graz. The IP address is only evaluated in the event of attacks on the network infrastructure of the University of Graz.
The processing of the above-mentioned data is carried out in particular on the basis of the existing overriding legitimate interest (Art 6 para 1 lit f GDPR) of the University of Graz in the fulfillment of this purpose.
2. contact
If you contact us (by e-mail, telephone or contact form), the data you provide yourself will be processed as required to process and respond to your request. This is usually:
- First name and surname
- Address
- Email address
In addition to the data listed above, the following optional data provided by you may be processed. These are:
- Gender
- First and subsequent academic title
- Telephone number
- Institution/organization/subject
- Matriculation number
This data is processed for the purpose of processing and responding to your inquiry. In the event of follow-up questions, the data will be stored by us for at least six months or for the period we need to provide the services you have requested.
The processing of the above-mentioned data is carried out in particular on the basis of the existing overriding legitimate interest (Art 6 para 1 lit f GDPR) of the University of Graz in the fulfillment of this purpose or according to Art 6 para 1 lit b GDPR in fulfillment of your request.
3. newsletter (e-mail/postal mailing list):
For the purpose of receiving electronic or postal information on events and FZIB news, we process the following personal data:
- Salutation
- First and last name
- Email address
This data is processed on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR), which can be revoked at any time, in order to send you the requested news and information.
4. Event management
For the purpose of organizing and running the events, we process the following personal data, which you as a participant provide yourself when registering for the event:
- Salutation
- First and last name
- Title (optional)
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Organizational affiliation/work area
We process this data to fulfill the event contract or to carry out pre-contractual measures (in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit b GDPR).
For the purpose of organizing and conducting the events, we process the following personal data that you provide yourself as a speaker:
- Salutation
- First name and surname
- Title (optional)
- Organizational affiliation
- Lecture title
We process this data for the purpose of fulfilling the contract or to carry out pre-contractual measures (pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR).
In addition, we process your short biography and your photo for the purpose of organizing and holding the events, if you optionally provide them to us. We process this data on the basis of your consent.
5. public relations work
We (the FZIB/RCIE partners mentioned above) take photos or videos as part of events. If necessary, these photos or videos are published for public relations purposes and to present our activities on media channels (such as the central website of FZIB/RCIE, websites of the cooperation partners University of Graz, PPH Augustinum and PH Stmk and their media).
The processing of photos or videos (optionally with names, titles, function of the persons depicted and explanatory texts) is carried out for the purpose of public relations work, for the presentation of FZIB/RCIE activities in the legitimate interest of the cooperation partners to inform the public about the fulfillment of the tasks of the universities and colleges (Art 6 para 1 lit f in conjunction with § 3 UG).
6. website analysis services
Google Analytics
1.) Description and scope of data processing
Our website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. ("Google"), 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Google Analytics uses "cookies", which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of our website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. We do not store any of your data that is collected in connection with Google Analytics.
This website uses the IP anonymization option offered by Google Analytics. Your IP address is therefore shortened/anonymized by Google upon receipt. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other data by Google.
2) Purpose of data processing
Google uses this information on our behalf to evaluate your use of the website and to compile reports on website activity for us as the website operator and to provide us with other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf.
3) Legal basis for data processing
We process your data on the basis of our overriding legitimate interest in carrying out an easy-to-create web analysis in a cost-efficient manner (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR).
You can prevent the storage of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly. However, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent.
You can also prevent the collection of your data in connection with Google Analytics by
- downloading and installing a browser plugin

Matomo
1.) Description and scope of data processing
Our website uses Matomo for web analysis. For this purpose, usage information (including your shortened IP address) generated by so-called "cookies", text files, is transmitted to the server and stored for usage analysis purposes after it has been anonymized. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the site is not passed on to third parties.

The processing of your data serves web usage analysis purposes, in particular to compile reports on website activity for us as website operators and thus to improve our website

The processing of the above-mentioned data is carried out in particular on the basis of the existing overriding legitimate interest (Art 6 para 1 lit f GDPR) of the University of Graz in fulfilling this purpose.
You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. If you do not agree to the storage and analysis of the usage information generated, you can object to this below. In this case, a so-called deactivation cookie will be stored in your browser, which means that Matomo will not collect any session data. Please note: If you delete your cookies, the deactivation cookie will also be deleted and you will have to store it again.

Storage period
If no separate storage period is specified for the individual processing purposes, your data will be stored as follows, depending on the respective legal basis for the processing:
In the case of a contract: We store your personal data for as long as is necessary for the performance of the contract (in particular event contract, sponsorship contract). Beyond this, we only store your data if there are statutory retention periods or for the duration of potential legal claims (limitation periods).
With consent: Data that we process from you on the basis of your consent will remain stored until you withdraw your consent/will be deleted after the event has ended. In addition, only your absolutely necessary personal data will be stored for the purpose of proving your consent or your revocation for a period of 3 years from revocation.
In the case of legitimate/public interest: We process the data for as long as this is necessary to safeguard the legitimate/public interest or until a (justified) objection is raised. In addition, we only store your data if there are statutory retention periods or limitation periods regarding potential legal claims are open.
Transfer of your personal data
Your personal data will generally only be processed by the cooperation partners or within FZIB. With the exception of the cases explicitly mentioned in the individual processing operations, your data will not be transferred to external recipients.
Your rights
In connection with the processing of your personal data, you have the following rights at any time, which can be asserted at the administrative office set up by the jointly responsible parties at the University of Graz, Institute for Educational Research and Pedagogical Training, FZIB:
- Right of access to the personal data concerned (Art 15 GDPR),
- Right to rectification (Art 16 GDPR) or erasure (Art 17 GDPR) or to
restriction of processing (Art 18 GDPR),
- right to data portability (Art 20 GDPR),
- right to object (Art 21 GDPR),
- right to withdraw consent (Art 7 (3) GDPR), which does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal,
In addition, there is the
- right to lodge a complaint (Art 77 GDPR),
which must be lodged with a supervisory authority.
